Your Step-by-Step Moving Day Playbook
Whether you are moving from a high-rise condo downtown or a detached home in the suburbs, moving day goes smoothly when each room is prepped systematically.
1. The Kitchen: 48 Hours Before
Defrost and clean your refrigerator at least 24 hours prior to moving day. Tape appliance doors shut and pack dry pantry goods into small, manageable boxes. Heavy canned goods should always go in small boxes to keep weight under 30 lbs.
2. Living Room & Electronics
Take clear photos of the wiring behind your TV, soundbar, and router before unplugging anything. Store screws and mounting brackets in labeled ziplock bags taped securely to the back of the corresponding furniture or electronic unit.
3. Bedrooms & Mattresses
Enclose all mattresses in heavy-duty plastic mattress bags to protect against dust, dirt, and moisture. Disassemble bed frames the night before moving day so the crew can load them first.
"Proper preparation means our movers can focus 100% on safety, protection, and careful truck loading."
4. The Final Walkthrough
Check closets, kitchen cupboards, the attic, crawl spaces, and behind doors. Look inside the dishwasher and washer/dryer to ensure nothing was left behind.
